How to Get to Caleruega Via Commute + Tips

Caleruega is a known place in Batangas for recreational and retreat activities while being close to nature. Check out this post to know how to get to Caleruega Church from Manila via commute.

On my 25th birthday, I took a leave from work and went to Caleruega Church to celebrate–all on my own. Sagada was my first choice. But the past stormy days have hinted that I can’t pursue going up north because of the weather. And so, with a few research here and there, and a couple of questions to friends who already went there via private vehicle, I mustered all my might to brave the stormy weather and go there.

The stunning sight of the church.

This is how to get to Caleruega Church from Manila via commute:

  1. Ride a bus bound to Nasugbu, Batangas from Pasay.  Estimated travel time is two and a half hours.
  2. Tell the driver to drop you off at Evercrest Country Club. If you have been to Mt. Batulao and Chapel on the Hill, this is the same drop off point.
  3. From there, ride a tricycle going to Caleruega Church. Travel time is 5 minutes

What to See in Caleruega

There is a long list of what to see in Caleruega. Exploring this place is more enjoyed when you are with your loved ones—be it family, significant other, or friends. As for me, I tried roaming around it alone—on my birthday that is—and I promise to bring a loved one there sometime.

What I enjoyed the most was the Koi pond and its walkways, leading to the hanging bridge. When you cross the hanging bridge, you will be led to the Tent Chapel of Transfiguration, which requires a long walk.

It was also nice walking along the Koi pond’s walkway while being shaded with trees. When I went there on a weekday, there are only few people who are visiting the area (maybe because the weather is not that good also). There is also an ongoing wedding in Caleruega Church. I advise you go there in the morning so you can still enter the church and pray.
