Musings and Pathways is my six-year-old blog, and it is just now (2016), that I have mustered all my might to let this blog go public. So, uhm, welcome to the blog, awesome reader!

I was in high school when I realized that I wanted to be a writer. And though my first byline in our school paper was misspelled, and it somehow broke my tiny heart, it did not stop me from pursuing the dream. I joined a newspaper reading comprehension contest–yes, there is such a thing–clinched the first prize, took it as a sign, and pursued a journalism degree.

Today, I enjoy life and pay bills through writing  I am a digital nomad, working as a freelance lifestyle writer and media consultant.

You see, I couldn’t be more contented than having a job that feels like I am just playing. Like I am just scrapbooking some funky finds and memorabilia. Or making accessories out of old magazines.

You enjoy it, get creative, and anxious at the same time, and then get excited to do more. On weekends and on vacation leaves, I’m either on the road or in Rizal babysitting my nephew Kean, while (still) meeting deadlines in between.

One of my favorite travel moments in the world is when I am in a moving vehicle. For instance, I love how I end up making 300-word articles while aboard the bus bound to Rizal after a week of living in the jungle that is the city.

It has been a year since I quit riding the MRT when going home. Weekends are sacred. And the hassle that the train can bring you is not worth it when you are trying to clear your mind. And so I ditched the quick yet uneasy ride to a longer and laid back bus ride.

Earphones plugged in, notebook opened, and I’m ready for a couple of hours of waiting to be home.

Sorry, just some random thought right there.

Anyway, let me tell you a little dose of who I am.

I love going places, the aroma of brewed coffee, colorful hats (and those of Queen Elizabeth’s), conversations about love and life, sandy toes, sun-kissed skin, camping on summits or by the sea, food (bulalo and Papa’s sinaing na tulingan, yes!) and beer, happy thoughts, and more coffee.

Yes, I’m an introvert and no, I’m not anti-social.

On this blog you’ll also get to read random posts, see amazing photos taken by my partner (yep, proud girlfriend here!), and my essays and projects I usually do alone or in collaboration.  Sometimes, I share my own snaps of nature–the sea, the sky, of flowers and trees, and even raindrops. I wouldn’t call myself a photographer though. More of a clicker, perhaps.

All these, and more, are part of Musings and Pathways—an avenue to document my travels, images taken by my trusty iPhone, and pondering while on the road (or even while staring at a blank Microsoft Word thinking of a kickass lead).

And why the name, you ask? Know that life is a journey and not a destination.

You live it well, learn while tackling that road God gave, share your insights to people you meet all along, and create a better, more positive, and creative road for other people who are yet to take on the journey. This is my version of that.

Join me as I make my way to chasing dreams, going places, and meeting people.

I’m Gel, by the way. Thankyou for stumbling upon my blog and the patience of reading till this very end.

Love and light, everyone!
